Neither snow, nor ice, nor freezing temps...
The weather did not deter our hardy cooks and bakers on Sunday, January 8. With TBA closed and no industrial kitchen available to cook and bake, we decided to divide and conquer: Debbie Hart-Klein, Bunny Aronson and May Balsam gathered at Debbie's house to make chicken pot pies and salads; and Jackie Dahlquist and David and Charlotte Levine were "stationed" at their home to bake yummy pineapple upside down cakes and pumpkin muffins. Thanks to Jackie and Eve Tapper for delivering the goodies to The Second Step on Monday for a community dinner for 30 people living in TSS housing as they transition from abusive homes to a fresh start. Nothing like good old comfort food to bring comfort!
As an added bonus, the cooks made flavorful broth from the roasted chicken bones, to which Debbie added lots of veggies and leftover chicken from the pot pies for soup which is now frozen and ready for Caring Community delivery to congregants, adding to the batches of soup already set to go as needed. Waste not want not!
Thanks to everyone!
Coming Attractions: Mark Rosen is taking charge of cooking for the next TSS monthly community dinner on February 12. If you are interested in helping out, email Mark at bmarkrosen@gmail.com.
