Hazel Sive
Second Day Rosh Hashanah Speaker
Our featured guest and storyteller for the second day of Rosh Hashanah, on Tuesday, October 1, at 10:00 a.m., is Hazel Sive. Hazel is Professor of Biology at MIT; a member of the Whitehead Institute; Associate Member, Broad Institute; and a MacVicar Faculty Fellow. And since 1997, she is a very involved member of our Temple!
Hazel grew up in a very close-knit Jewish community in apartheid South Africa. When she came to the USA to study and stay, Hazel lost several significant signposts of connection and identity. Since then she has reclaimed her identity and crafted a new, deep sense of self. Hazel will take us on this inspiring, New Year’s journey to belonging.
