at Temple Beth Avodah

A word from our Rabbi, Keith Stern:

Dear Haverim,
This is one special Temple. I know, I know – I’m not objective, but this place is truly unique and amazing. I love the sense of family, the close and welcoming feeling (that in Yiddish is called “haimish”) that thoroughly pervades the temple. You will find it everywhere: in our educational programs; at our Shabbat services; the way newcomers as well as old-timers are greeted; the ways in which we celebrate and mourn.

Temple Beth Avodah welcomes you: black, white, young, old, single, married, divorced, gay, lesbian – everyone. We’re not concerned about your pedigree, the car you drive or where you live and vacation. We care about you, the person. And we want you to feel at home, comfortable with what we do, ready to be a part of this community.

At Beth Avodah, we provide classes, programs and activities for all, from womb to tomb. We want to give you all of the tools necessary to live a fulfilling Jewish life. If there’s something you want to learn and it’s not in the catalog of programs, let us know. We can make it happen.

We offer new and exciting ways to explore your Jewish soul. There are many opportunities to deepen your own spirituality through prayer, meditation and study. We understand that the Jewish experience is about balancing our own intimate concerns along with our responsibilities to repair the world. Consequently, Beth Avodah is also avidly concerned with social justice, peace and equality.

We want you to be part of our temple family. Come to the many holiday celebrations; take part in the bi-annual play we put on; come to the dinners, the picnics and the various happenings we sponsor throughout the year. You will always find warm and embracing men, women and children ready to welcome you. Ours is a temple that loves to come together to laugh and celebrate the blessings of being alive.

Our Temple is a haimish place filled with love. It is a place of egalitarianism and harmony. It is a beit midrash – a house of study. It is a beit Knesset – a house of gathering. It is a beit Avodah – a house of worship and commitment to God and to the Jewish people. We hope you will make this house your home. You’ll love it! And we will all be blessed.

L’Shalom

Keith Stern
