BAYGL: Beth Avodah Youth Group League
The youth of Temple Beth Avodah are invited to participate in our youth group, BAYGL. We have 3 youth-based groups that serve our Temple youth in grades 3-12. For more information about youth programming, contact Youth Educator Becky Oliver (boliver@bethavodah.org).
Mini BAYGL, Grade 3-5. Mini BAYGL gets 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders together for fun social and cultural events through the year. This includes the annual Mini BAYGL Shul-In (sleepover) every year for grades 4 and 5. In order to make these events successful, parents are asked to help chaperone and drive for off-site events throughout the year. Past events have included apple picking, snowtubing, and game nights. Junior BAYGL, Grades 6-8. Jr. BAYGL is place for 6th, 7th and 8th graders to be a part of the community beyond their Bar or Bat Mitzvah preparation. Members enjoy 4 big events during the year as well as meetings and small get-togethers. Jr. BAYGL has enjoyed events such as indoor skydiving and laser tag in the past. Senior BAYGL, Grades 9-12, Sr. BAYGL is a wonderful community of Jewish teens that plans their own events including social, cultural, social action, and educational opportunities. The group is led by a youth board that meets regularly to plan events and represent the youth of our congregation. Members can also participate in regional youth group NFTY-NE (www.nfty.org/ne). Both BAYGL and NFTY provide our youth with the opportunity to build strong Jewish communities and grow into thoughtful Jewish adults.
